Notes from the Kuwait desk

Short, evergreen explanations of the things people ask us most. No news, no promotions — just the parts of an stc topup that are easy to get wrong.

Service notes

Reading the prepaid number correctly

A Kuwait mobile number is eight digits, no country code and no spaces. When you top up for someone else, read the number back to them before you submit: a single wrong digit is the most common reason a request has to be sent back, because the balance would otherwise land on a stranger's line.

Why there is a daily cap

Five requests per number per day sounds arbitrary, and in a sense it is: it is the point at which a pattern stops looking like ordinary use and starts looking like something else. The cap protects the line holder more than it protects us. If you genuinely need more, one larger request up to KWD 50 is the simpler route.

Where the waiting time actually goes

Almost none of it is technical. A top-up confirmed during working hours is usually credited within half an hour, and most of that is the payment clearing. The long waits happen when a request lands in the evening or over the weekend and sits in the queue until a manager reads it the next working morning.
